The CCBA provides a wide variety of activities for its members. Major events include the Chinese New Year Celebration Program, the Fall Dinner Program, a summer picnic, Arts in the Heart of Augusta, the Good Boats Dragon Boat Festival, and monthly cover dish socials. In addition, the CCBA offers activities of interest throughout the year. The CCBA Board recently surveyed the membership for their input and as a result, cooking, tai chi, and brush painting are currently being offered. To help keep members informed, the CCBA has established a CCBA Facebook page as well as including a Calendar of Events and other News on our website.
Chinese New Year Celebration
The CCBA Chinese New Year Celebration is our biggest event of the year. Over 200 people enjoy the full course meal and entertainment program each year.
Our annual fall dinner marks the beginning of the CCBA calendar year. A full course meal and entertainment program delights the membership.
Arts in the Heart of Augusta is an annual downtown festival celebrating the arts and ethnic diversity in our community. Arts in the Heart brings our association volunteers together in a frantic but fun filled weekend; over 100 volunteers each year help prepare and serve food at our Booth in the Global Village. Arts in the Heart is our biggest fundraising effort and helps to fund the many programs that we can offer to the CCBA membership and to maintain our building. Proceeds from the weekend also help fund the charitable donations that we make annually. The CCBA has been a participant of Arts in the Heart since its beginning (over 30 years).
The CCBA has held a summer picnic at the Lake for over 30 years. The CCBA provides the barbecue and all the fixings along with games and entertainment. This event always make this a fun filled afternoon.
In 2012 Goodwill Industries approached the CCBA about working together on a Dragon Boat Race and Asian Festival for the Augusta community. In partnership with the CSRA Chinese Association, the GRU Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and the CSRA Chinese School, the CCBA is proud to be a part of this wonderful event, a major fundraiser for Goodwill Industries. Goodwill, in appreciation, selected the CBBA as its community partner of the year for 2012. This event allows Augusta’s Chinese associations to work together and raise funds for joint projects.
The CCBA has always tried to offer activities of interest to the membership. Through the years the CCBA has offered a Chinese school, language classes, adult cultural classes, tai chi classes, a support group for families with adopted Chinese children, and a Chinese Summer School. Currently, tai chi, cooking, and brush painting classes are being offered.
Fun Night Cover Dish Socials
Fun Nights are our monthly Sunday night potluck socials. Members bring a favorite dish to share. It’s a night of eating, entertainment, announcements, and fellowship. We try to schedule these nights on the 3rd Sunday of each month when we do not have a major activity in that month.
