The CCBA provides a wide variety of activities for its members. Major events include the Chinese New Year Celebration Program, the Fall Dinner Program, a summer picnic, Arts in the Heart of Augusta and monthly cover dish socials. In addition, the CCBA offers activities of interest throughout the year.  To help keep members informed, the CCBA has established a Facebook page and Instagram page, as well as including a Calendar of Events and other News on our website.

CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION (Jan or Feb)

The CCBA Chinese New Year Celebration is our biggest event of the year. Over 200 people enjoy the full-course meal, lion dance, and other performances each year.

In addition to that, Augusta CCBA collaborated with other non-profit Chinese organizations in the city and at Augusta University to host a new year gala that is open to the public. The first collaboration took place in 2019 at Maxwell Theater. The community is looking to make the gala an annual tradition.

DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL (May-discontinued for now)

CCBA and many other nonprofit Chinese organizations collaborated with the Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA to organize Goodboats, an annual dragon boat festival in May. This event was one of the fundraisers for both Goodwill and CCBA. The annual tradition started in the early 2010s and ended in 2019 due to decreased attendance. It is with hope the event will be revived in the future under different partnerships and collaborations.

SUMMER PICNIC (Jun)

The CCBA has held a summer picnic at Clark Hill Lake for over 30 years. The CCBA provides the barbecue and all the fixings along with games and entertainment. This event always makes this a fun-filled afternoon.

ARTS IN THE HEART OF AUGUSTA (Sept)

Arts in the Heart of Augusta is an annual downtown festival celebrating the arts and ethnic diversity in our community. Arts in the Heart brings our association volunteers together in a frantic but fun-filled weekend; over 100 volunteers each year help prepare and serve food at our Booth in the Global Village. Arts in the Heart is our biggest fundraising effort and helps to fund the many programs that we can offer to the CCBA membership and to maintain our building. Proceeds from the weekend also help fund the charitable donations that we make annually. The CCBA has been a participant of Arts in the Heart since its beginning (over 40 years).

FALL DINNER (Oct)

Our annual fall dinner marks the beginning of the CCBA calendar year. A full-course meal and entertainment program delights the membership.

CULTURE CLASSES (Occasionally)

The CCBA has always tried to offer activities of interest to the membership. Through the years the CCBA has offered a Chinese school, language classes, adult cultural classes, tai chi classes, a support group for families with adopted Chinese children, and a Chinese Summer School. Many talented members of the association will demonstrate and offer private tutoring for calligraphy, erhu (Chinese violin), and traditional dances. The CCBA seeks suggestions from the membership and provides programs as warranted.

FUN NIGHT, POTLUCK, SOCIALS, ETC. (Typically monthly)

Fun Nights are our monthly Sunday night potluck socials. Members bring a favorite dish to share. It’s a night of eating, entertainment, announcements, and fellowship. We try to schedule these nights on the 3rd Sunday of each month when we do not have a major activity in that month.

PING PONG CLUB (Every Friday)

Every Friday from 6-9pm, members and non-members are welcome to come on down to CCBA hall and bring their own paddle to play and have fun! Tables, nets, balls, and occasional snacks are provided. Donations welcome. Contact Steve Xiao: steve_xiao@yahoo.com.

TAI CHI CLUB (Every Sunday)

Every Sunday from 9-10 (10:30) am at the Reed Creek Nature Park & Interpretive Center, this event is a social gathering between all Chinese nonprofit organizations and members in the community! Contact Truman Woo: trumanwoo@aol.com.
