The CCBA has supported the Parkinson’s Disease Support Group and fellow CCBA members Dick and Kathleen Reynolds the last few years by encouraging CCBA members, friends, and the public to participate in the annual POP (People of Parkinson’s) Walk. Because of the Pandemic, the Walk this year will be a virtual walk. Dick Reynolds has sent us a note explaining the format of this year’s walk and how you can participate. Please consider supporting this worthwhile endeavor. Copied below is the note from Dick containing all the details. You can register online at http://popwalk.dojiggy.com/ta48rg.
Thank you!
Dick’s note:
Covid-19 has robbed us all of many of our plans for 2020 but one thing’s for sure. Other ongoing challenges that were here long before covid-19, haven’t gone away, including Parkinson’s Disease. The annual POP Walk (POP = People of Parkinson’s), that is sponsored by the CSRA Parkinson’s Disease Support Group, will be our first ever virtual walk scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020.
I encourage you to register for this year’s POP Walk and plan to walk, ride, run, sprint, or whatever works for you to get out and get some fresh air. You can either register using the 2020 Popwalk Registration Form that is attached or use the following link (http://popwalk.dojiggy.com/ta48rg) to register online. By doing so, you will be joining Kathleen Reynolds’ team “Undefeated-KHR”. You can participate anytime during the weekend of October 2/3/4. Just pick a path, put on your team “bib” and have your Popwalk picture taken, then upload it to Facebook with ”#popwalk” in your comment, then you may be recognized on the official Facebook page Popwalk 2020.
Do plan to watch the kickoff of the virtual event on October 3, at 10 am EST on Facebook 2020. The registration deadline to receive a team “bib” is September 10, 2020. If you’d rather just make a donation and not join the team or walk, you are certainly welcome to make a check payable to “CSRA Parkinson’s Walk” and send it to the following address:
CSRA Popwalk
116 Lottie Lane
Grovetown, GA 30813
Every donation counts and together we can make a difference to those living with Parkinson’s Disease. Thank you!
Your generous support will help the mission of the CSRA Parkinson Support Group. This organization supports those living with Parkinson’s as well as their tireless caregivers. Their monthly dinner gatherings (suspended temporarily due to Covid-19) have helped supply information to those at different stages of Parkinson’s through literature, guest speakers, and shared experiences. This group also provides respite care and identifies area organizations that can offer assistance based on individual needs. Through support from generous donors like you, they provide research grants that further research here at Augusta University Health, where one of the nation’s Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease is located, as well as to the National Parkinson’s Foundation and Michael J. Fox Foundation
