February 24, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

BREAKING RACIAL BARRIERS: Conversations between the Black and Chinese community of Augusta, Georgia on life during Jim Crow.
BREAKING RACIAL BARRIERS: Conversations between the Black and Chinese community of Augusta, Georgia on life during Jim Crow.

This virtual panel forum was inspired by Crystal Kwok’s documentary “Blurring the Color Line” exploring her grandmother’s family growing up in Augusta in the early part of the 1900’s and which touched on the dynamics of Augusta’s African American communities and the Chinese families who owned and operated grocery stores in those communities. Crystal and Corey Rogers, the historian of the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History moderated this event with selected members of both the African American and Chinese communities sharing their memories of this era.
