WELCOME
Chartered in 1927, the Augusta Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) is the oldest Chinese organization in the State of Georgia and one of the southeast’s oldest Asian organizations. We are a non-profit, non-political organization whose mission is to provide fellowship for our members and promote awareness of Chinese culture and Heritage. Our activities include cultural programs, monthly potluck socials, celebrations of traditional Chinese holidays and community events such as Arts in the Hearts of Augusta Festival.
Commonly referred to as CCBA of Augusta, we are the first Asian organization in Georgia to receive a historical marker from the Georgia Historical Society. The dedication ceremony of the marker was held on May 19, 2023.
Georgia Asian Times (GAT) awarded CCBA the Asian American Spirit Award during the 2023 GAT Gala. This prestigious award is bestowed upon organizations who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to the principles that strengthen America’s communities. Through their work and philanthropy, Asian American Spirit Award recipients exemplify the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and initiative while making unselfish contributions to their community, state, or the nation.

Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony
We are the oldest Chinese organization in Georgia and the first Asian organization in the state to receive a historical marker from the Georgia Historical Society (GHS). The dedication ceremony took place on May 19, 2023.

CCBA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. Checks can be mailed to our physical address. Electronic donations can be made via PayPal.
ARCHIVING OUR HISTORY
Historical Marker
On August 5th, 2022, the Georgia Historical Society approved CCBA's application for a historical marker on the subject of "Augusta Chinese and the Augusta Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association." The dedication ceremony will be on May 19, 2023.
Museum Collaboration
In fall 2019, the CCBA submitted artifacts and collaborated with the Museum of Chinese in America in New York City to create the exhibition, “Gathering: Collecting and Documenting Chinese American History.” One of CCBA's board members, Ellen Dong, facilitated the effort with the museum's director.
Grant Award
CCBA's youngest boardmember, Si-Long Chen, initiated a grant proposal on behalf of the CCBA seeking funding for the marker, dedication ceremony, Chinese history town hall and exhibit. In March of 2022, the Porter Fleming Foundation awarded the CCBA a grant for $6,500 to fund the project.
Oral History
In 2011, the Georgia Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded the CCBA an oral history grant in the amount of $2500. Augusta Chinese-American Oral History Project Now available through Digital Library of Georgia.
